SRT Alliance Hosts SRT Virtual Plugfest 2020 from May 5-7 to Foster Multi-Vendor Broadcast Video Workflows Over the InternetSRT Alliance
Sponsored by Haivision and Microsoft, the collaborative online event will test interoperability using the SRT open source protocol
Montreal, Canada – April 16, 2020 – The SRT Alliance, established by Haivision to support the SRT Open Source project, today announced the SRT Plugfest, an online event for developers to test interoperability and compatibility between different technologies using the SRT open source video streaming protocol.
SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) is the de facto standard for high performance video streaming between remote facilities, from facilities to the cloud, and between broadcast and streaming cloud services.
Sponsored by Haivision and Microsoft, the SRT Plugfest will take place from May 5 to May 7, 2020, and will give participants access to leading video streaming technologists, live SRT video streams, and cloud resources including Haivision’s SRT Hub, an innovative cloud-native media routing engine built on Microsoft Azure. All companies that support the active development of the SRT open source protocol and have products and solutions that support SRT are invited to participate in the online event, which will be moderated by core developers from Haivision and Microsoft.
“The SRT Plugfest gives developers a collaborative space to test their SRT-related developments and foster awareness about the SRT open source protocol,” said Marc Cymontkowski, Vice President, Product Development, Cloud at Haivision. “We’re looking forward to working together with the SRT open source community to validate compatibility and interoperability with a number of different video streaming technologies.”
SRT, developed and pioneered by Haivision, optimizes streaming performance across unpredictable networks with low latency secure streams. SRT, royalty free and available on GitHub, is the fastest growing open source video streaming movement. In addition to the more than 350 SRT Alliance members, SRT is also supported within the VideoLAN VLC, Wireshark, FFmpeg, OBS, and GStreamer open source projects. The full list of SRT Alliance members can be found at srtalliance.org/members.
“We’re pleased to join the SRT Plugfest and work with the community to enable innovative new cloud media scenarios,” said Mark Miller, Senior Director, Azure Media and Entertainment, Microsoft Corp. “Working together with the SRT Alliance we look forward to enabling interoperability for developers, customers and partners.”
