IBC2019 SRT RecapLina Nikols
It’s safe to say that this year’s IBC was our biggest, busiest and best show to date! With over 70 SRT Alliance members in attendance, all eyes were on SRT during the show. For that, we’d like to say a huge THANK YOU to our amazing members and proud SRT enthusiasts and supporters for being such fantastic ambassadors of SRT and all it represents as an open source initiative. Here are a few highlights shared by Sylvio Jelovcich, VP of Global Alliances at Haivision.
An Inspiring Community
IBC continues to be the place where cutting edge ideas and innovations are shared and relationships are formed, and this is especially the case for the SRT Alliance. In addition to the SRT Alliance members at the show sharing their SRT deployments, we continue to discover more organizations, both large and small, who are using SRT in their solutions that weren’t previously on our radar. This just further validates the premise of SRT use and adoption by the broadcast industry. According to Sylvio, “Every partner that I spoke to was very enthusiastic about the quality of SRT interest at their booths.”
SRT Sunday: A Resounding Success
This year, marked the third annual SRT Sunday which included 3 Microsoft and Haivision sponsored events the SRT Technical Panel, the SRT Hub Technical Overview and the Broadcast Production in the Cloud with SRT Hub & Microsoft Azure Panel. With over 500 visitors attending the panels along with the SRT Showcase, where 6 members were presenting live hands-on demos of their SRT solutions, this year’s SRT Sunday was our most successful yet. If you weren’t able to make it the show, please go ahead and register for the panels as recordings will be made available for viewing shortly.
SRT 1.4 is Here!
During the SRT Technical panel, SRT expert, Marc Cymontkowski confirmed the release of SRT 1.4 which includes a plugin API which allows packet filtering (including Forward Error Correction) as well as a host of other enhancements and bug fixes. You can find out more about what’s new here.
